Baku 2

Spent all day with the employees and representatives and heard great things as well as fears, frustrations and needs. It's a hard job but they're in it for the long haul - however long that may be. Good question to ponder. If I had to leave tomorrow what would I leave behind? We are learning a lot!
Another windy and chilly day but we were mostly inside in meetings. After a tasty evening meal we toured the city for an hour on foot. Urban life is alive well into the evenings here and we are enjoying the proximity of our apartment to city life
Black clothing is dominant, with a rare burst of bright pink, purple or red. Obviously that attracts attention.

That's about it for tonight. You know your part - please stay at it for us. :-)

  1. That's a really interesting observation about the black clothes. I can imagine the rare pink sighting really pops out, but particularly so on a large American like Dad. I bet your glad you brought that pink shirt along, eh?! Now Mom -- don't let him wear it again, ok? :-)

The castle picture is really wonderful. Seeing those two older men on the bench chatting amidst that scene with the slate gray against the bright green grass...it's a neat picture. What's the building?

Well, it's 2:16AM on Thursday in Baku as I type this, so you're probably just rolling in from that bustling night life you're happy to be around. Enjoy your rest and keep up the great posts. It's good to hear from you!

    Love,
    Tim and family

  2. What a great blog, Dad! It's been neat to follow along on your trip and see the pictures. Thanks, too, for the emails (Mom). Sounds like you've met some wonderful people.

    Love you!

  3. The castle-like wall is a remnant of "Old Town" Baku, and was part of a fortress wall. There is actually quite a bit of the wall/fortress still there on the Caspian shore.
